The Sisters believe all people have the right to express their unique joy and beauty and use old fashioned clothing as well as irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence share a vocation for public service, visit the sick, raise money for HIV related charities and generally just want people to be happy.

The Order started in 1979 in San Francisco and has spread worldwide with groups in cities across Europe, the Americas and in Australia.

The Adelaide House was established in June 1992 and is the only incorporated House in Australia.  The Adelaide Sisters perform memorial services, bless homes, venues, events and babies.  Sisters are distinct in their black and white habits and can be seen at Queer gatherings administering to the community as well as out and about in the city.  Our House also embraces an 'inclusionist' membership policy and welcomes everyone who wants to look & be fabulous as well as share in our goal of commitment to serving the community and generally annoying peple who do not support GLBTIQ / HIV rights.

The Object of the Order is to raise funds for Gay charities and in particular those relating to HIV / AIDS.

Mission Statement

In addition to our aims, the Order's Mission shall be to have a very real presence in the GLBTIQ Community, and to be a significant fund raiser for our chosen charities, which must be of benefit to segments of our Community.
